Security is one of the most important aspects of a server. To set up a good firewall is the essential step for server security. VPSrobots primarily concerns server security since it is created. In previous article, we explained what is iptables on VPSrobots, and described that it worked based on port and IP address on VPSrobots, so if you want to block a unauthorized access, please set up a port or IP rule. This guide will give you a step-by-step instruction on how to set up iptables with VPSrobots.

  1. Log in VPSrobots client, and connect to server with password or SSH private key. Click Security tab and click iptables sub-tab to open it. Please initialize and configure iptables if it is not installed yet.

  2. On Port rule table, if you want to block a unauthorized port, please select protocol and enter port number to insert a port rule as well as remove the port rule from the list by clicking Remove button if you want.

  3. On IP Rule table, insert a IP rule by entering IP or IP segment to block the IP, and unblock it by clicking Remove button.

  4. Click the detail icon in the week and month table to open the extended window to check top 10 IPs of potential threats in each day within a week or a month. Block these IPs by clicking Block button and unblock it from the IP rule table, and you can click Flush button to empty the records of top 10 suspected IPs.
